Korean language policy should reflect the changing situation of Korean language community, forecast how the Korean language life will unfold, then will be set up and executed. That way we can reassure the development of Korean language and meet the expectations related to language life of Korean language community. Recently as the surrounding environments are rapidly changing, Korean language community faces brand new challenges. Therefore it is highly necessary to review the major policies that have lasted for long, come up with more systematic and scientific Korean language policies, and properly implement them in actively addressing the issues. Building up basic statistical information system for the Korean language policy is one of those efforts. The main purpose of the research is to review and systematically organize basic statistical data of the Korean language policy in 2012. First of all, five major categories have been set up, out of consideration for the actual establishment and implementation of the language policy. In addition, subcategories were defined, reflecting the sub-projects of the current language policy. The data was largely compiled, after collecting statistical indices related to the language policy from the government's reputable reports. A total of 124 pieces of the data was collected and compiled. Especially this year, 2012, in order to maximize the cumulative management and feasibility of the access, the search integrates and systematizes the results from the last year. In total 284 Korean language policies were collected. The information on the outline, result, summary and sources of the statistics was systematized to be easily used when one presents the data. Particularly in the section of 'summary', the core information, conducive to the establishment and implementation of the policy, was extracted and separately organized among the contents of the statistical chart. Besides, In the section of information on sources, the sources, key words, and references of the contents concerned were presented altogether in order to make it easy to share and spread the statistical data, having in mind a portal site of the language policy, a service scheduled to be provided on Internet.
