1. Title: A national survey on language use and language attitude in adolescents 2. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the current state of the language use and the language attitude in adolescents nationwide and suggest the practical improvement plan. 3. Background: As a result of "A survey of adolescents' language use" which was performed as the task of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2010, the problematic language use in adolescents has thrown up and the necessity of expanding the survey scope into the whole nation took place. And in the face of the indication as saying that adolescents' using slang and jargon or aggressive language expression causes serious problem, a practical improvement plan failed to be arranged. Accordingly, there is a need of specifically grasping environmental factors, which stir up adolescents' using negative language expression, and of arranging improvement plan based on this. 4. Research method and contents: To grasp the actual condition of the language and the language attitude in adolescents, and the relevant factors, we performed a questionnaire survey targeting 6,053 students of elementary, middle, high schools and 184 teachers in 6 regions(Gyeongi, Gangwon, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gyeongsang, Jeju). And we collected and analyzed materials of the spoken words and the written words of 542 students. The contents of this study are summarized as follows. 【Task 1】 A survey on the language use in adolescents - frequency, context and expansion level in aggressive language expression, expletive, buzzword, jargon such as teenage slang - List of slang‧buzzword․jargon, a type of aggressive language expression - (slang) rough intensity, (buzzword․slang) norm destruction level 【Task 2】 A survey on the language attitude in adolescents - A motive of using aggressive language expression, buzzword & jargon - Attitude of allowance on aggressive language expression, buzzword & jargon - Recognition of problems about the whole of using language - Intention of improvement 【Task 3】 Analysis of problematic factors and suggestion of improvement plan - Analysis on socio-demographic factors, growth & developmental factors, and home, educational, socio-cultural environmental factors - Suggestion of improvement plan
